Motone BMW R9T Custom

The BMW RnineT is one of the best loved motorcycles in the world to customise.

In 2017, for this project for Motone Customs, we sculpted a modern feeling motorcycle with simple, classic lines using traditional clay modeling. For example the fuel tank, inspiration was taken from the old “air-head” BMW tanks, such as found on the original BMW R90S/R100S of the late seventies.

Some years later in 2021, to complete the design, Nick build a front fairing concept using VR modelling tool Gravity Sketch, which allows him to build models with the same kind of interaction as when he was working with clay, but with the speed and flexibility that working digitally allows.

If you watch the video at the top of the page you'll see the speed with which Nick was able to modify the fairing to accommodate higher handlebar position within a couple of hours.
